3 lessons I’ve learned in 2023 about life, love & business
Sitting in a tiny studio in Greece on New Year’s Eve, I wasn’t planning on sharing my end-of-year reflections because…
Well, quite honestly, because I’ve been enjoying the sunshine and cool sea swims too much to open my laptop very much at all!
But, it would be seriously amiss of me to end 2023 without sharing a few reflections on what has probably been the biggest year of my life in terms of change.
So, here goes…

1️⃣ Imperfect action trumps no action
👉 every
👉 single
👉 time
This year, my best and most surprising results have come from putting myself out there both in person and online.
There have been times when I haven’t felt fully prepared for a presentation or when I’ve not been 100% happy with content.
But, unsure about how well it would be received, I’ve put it out there anyway.
But, what’s the alternative? Don’t show up?
Whether we’re talking business, love or anything else, anything else, if you don’t show up I guarantee you won’t succeed!
So, as someone quite clever once said, just do it! 💪🏼

2️⃣ There is zero point worrying about the future!
Next, I’ve come to the conclusion that there is absolutely no point worrying about the future because we have no clue what is going to happen in the next 5 minutes let alone the next 5 months!
For two years, I talked about handing my notice in at Easter 2023 to leave school and become my own boss.
This time last year, I didn’t think in a million years that I would actually be able to support myself full-time.
In fact, last New Year’s Eve, in a moment of self-doubt and self-pity, I even thought about quitting the business altogether.
But, although Happy Yoga Wales still wasn’t generating enough income to cover even my most essential bills, I decided to take a leap of faith and hand in my letter of resignation in April 2023.
So, here I am – practising trusting the universe rather than worrying about the future.
So far, so good 🤞

3️⃣ We’re in it alone 💪
As much as they might love you, your partner, family & friends can’t do it for you. Whether it’s growing your business or changing your habits, it all comes down to you.
If you’re lucky like me, your family will always have your best interests at heart. But, that doesn’t necessarily mean that they know what is right for you!
Nor does it mean that they are wrong!
At the end of the day, we are all on our own journey.
Whether you are on a spiritual path, a health-conscious mission or a business success plan, follow your heart and your intuition.

Final thoughts
In reality, it’s impossible to sum up all the lessons I’ve learned this year in a single blog post.
If we keep our hearts and minds open, every single day gifts us knowledge and experience to help us grow into the best possible versions of ourselves.
