What Kind of Yoga Do I Teach? Exploring My Unique Yoga Blend — In North Wales & Online

If you’ve ever asked me, “What kind of yoga do you teach?” you might have noticed me pause and smile. It’s a tricky question to answer in a single phrase because my style is a blend of several approaches, each bringing unique benefits!

Whether you’re joining my in-person classes in North Wales or practicing with me online, here’s an overview of the unique yoga blend you’ll find — and why it might be just what you need to build strength, calm a busy mind, and feel more balanced.

1. Hatha Yoga

Hatha yoga is all about balance and alignment. We hold poses for a few breaths, giving you time to settle in and connect with each movement. This style is a great foundation for building strength, flexibility, and body awareness. It’s a steady, grounding practice that anyone can enjoy, regardless of experience level.

2. Vinyasa Yoga

In Vinyasa, movement is linked to breath, creating a flowing, dynamic sequence. If you love the feeling of moving meditation, Vinyasa brings it to life! It’s a more active practice, where poses transition seamlessly to build both physical strength and mental focus.

3. Gentle Yoga

“Gentle Yoga” can include a combination of Yin, Restorative, and slower flowing movements aimed at increasing mobility and flexibility. These classes are about slowing down and giving your body time to release tension without a focus on strength-building.

In Yin, we focus on deep stretching, especially in the hips and areas that affect the lower back. With Restorative, we use props to fully relax into each pose, giving the body and mind a much-needed reset. It’s perfect if you’re looking for something nurturing and restorative.

4. Trauma-Informed & Yoga Therapy Techniques

While all styles of yoga can be healing, trauma-informed and yoga therapy techniques add another layer of support. This approach gives you tools to regulate your nervous system, with specific breathwork and gentle movements.

For those of us with busy brains — whether from ADHD, stress, or the demands of modern life — these practices can be especially grounding, helping to slow down racing thoughts and steady the mind. I create a safe, supportive environment where you can explore movement at your own pace, focusing on finding steadiness and balance.

Alongside these, my fitness background brings a focus on mobility drills, functional movement, and fascia-friendly exercises, so we’re not just working out but improving how we move in everyday life.

Through all of these styles, I aim to keep classes beginner-friendly and easy to follow.

My years as a schoolteacher have taught me the value of clear instructions, so you can feel confident and supported from the moment you step on the mat. And while I hold deep respect for the roots and philosophy of yoga, my goal is to make it accessible and welcoming for everyone.

So yes, it’s hard to sum up my style in a single phrase, but I hope this gives you a sense of the unique blend you’ll find with me.
